Born and raised in Miami Florida, Ted Lucas is a true example of an ambitious entrepreneur. As the founder of legendary independent music label Slip-N-Slide Records Lucas has been responsible for discovering such musical talents as Trick Daddy, Trina, Plies, Rick Ross and more. He’s been recognized as a major player in the music business and has been a Member of The Source Magazines Top Power 30 in previous years. Slip N Slide Records has also been spotlighted numerous times including The Source magazine recognizing the label as the #1 Independent record Label in the State of Florida and “Top Record Label” at the Miami Awards. The New Times magazine also name the label as #1 Independent record label in South Florida.
Ted has also focused on endeavors that he felt would reflect positively on his hometown in addition to making a constructive contribution to the music . Aside from his musical success, Lucas is heavily involved with charitable organizations focusing on children and his community. The Ted Lucas Foundation is a non-profit organization aimed at helping boys and girls in Miami’s inner cities improve their reading, writing, and math skills so they can pursue their dreams and become productive members of society. The foundation was founded by Ted Lucas who is one of the most successful independent record label executives in United States. Most recently In 2008, The Florida Bar Association’s Entertainment & Sports Law panel presented him with the prestigious Tom Dowd Lifetime Achievement Award.
He looks forward to future plans of expanding Slip-N-Slide Records across different genres of music and becoming a major label in the industry. When asked about the future of his company, future artist and a long list of other future goals and aspirations, Lucas states “One thing in the world besides God that will never run out of possibilities or exhaust its energy is MUSIC and I plan to keep my concentration and faith focused on both of them.” He invites all to celebrate his NEXT ten year run as he aspires toward many more ventures.
